Okay - at an attempt to update everyone on everything in a timely manner I am committing to keeping this blog up to date. If you are reading this you are informed - please pass the word on to other parents that the BEST way to know what is going on in children's and youth ministry at First Christian Church Stillwater - is to regulary check out the blog. Today's update will be rather long BECAUSE, it has been awhile since the last post - bear with me and catch up - I promise to do better from this point forward. So here goes:
We'll start with one of my FAVORITE things - the annual zoo snooze will be held Friday, May 7-Saturday May 8th at the OKC zoo. Cost is $10.00 per person and all FCC children, youth and parents are invited to attend. (Parents are encouraged to join in the fun HOWEVER it is not maditory that parents attend in order for children to participate). We will meet at the FCC parking lot Friday night @ 5:00pm. Please bring a sack lunch or fast food meal to enjoy on the way to the zoo. (Help is needed in providing transportation - if you are going and are able to drive please let me know ASAP). The zoo program will begin at 7pm and will include a special educational program presented by zoo personnell followed by a night walk around the zoo. We will end the evening with snacks and a night movie. Bring a bed roll, pj's, toothpaste and toothbrush. We'll wake bright and early for a morning walk around the zoo and depart for Stillwater around 9:00. Saturday zoo admission will be covered for families wanting to stay and enjoy more time at the zoo; however, our group will head back to Stillwater and plans to be in the church parking lot around 10:30am. Reservations are due no later than Sunday, May 2nd.
Meetings have been held regarding Camp WOW, May 31-June 4th, (grades 6-7)and Mission Camp July 26-30, (grades 8th-12th) All release forms and final payments are due May 1st. If you have questions or need more information about these summer camp opportunities contact Sondra Ladd.
Deadline to attend camp at Central Christian in Guthrie is May 1st. Registration forms and information are available in the church office. A $45 late fee will be assessed after May 1st and campers will be placed on a waiting list depending on availability of space. If you are interested in attending Central Christian make your reservations NOW.
Vacation Bible School "High Seas Expedition" will be held June 20th-24th. (Sunday-Thursday). Mitzi Andrews will direct and in needing volunteers. Please contact Mitzi if you are willing to be a part of this amazing week of fun and activity for our FCC children. (Adult and youth volunteers are needed). A VBS decorations workday will be held May 16th immediately following the Contemporary Service. Pizza will be provided. Bring your work clothes and help us prepare for an exciting high seas adventure.
Mission Camp participants will be meeting each Sunday evening @5:00 in the youth room to prepare for mission camp. It is important that everyone registered for camp be in attendance.
Adult volunteers are also needed to help with hospitality and food preparation. If you are interested contact Sondra immediately.
