WOW, what an incredible week. 36 campers along with me and Rick. The Hines' followed us to make sure everyone made it through the headlice check and sure enough everyone was clear and ready for camp to begin. This year was unlike any other. Dry Gulch has hired a new chef and the food was amazing. No processed food - everything prepared fresh with lots of healthy stuff thrown in. The kids and adult all raved. The activities were better than ever, although I never thought that was possible. They added crafts into the mix, along with field games and four square. Favorites were still the lake, (wet willy, wave runners and banana), go carts and horses. Only one camper sat out on the horse rides this year and he was a young first timer, very unusual, the horses are typically a little intimitating for several kids but everyone who rode had a great time. The night walk was alot less scary than the first time around and it's funny to see how much difference a year makes in being a little bolder and braver. Moms should know that the boys won the clean bunk award all three days and received the golden sombero AND an ice cream party. Hands down these were the best chapel services EVER. We all loved the drama, the speakers were great, and the music was phenominal. We dealt with homesicknessthis year more than ever before. It is actually a rare occurence even with such young campers. However when it hit this year it hit hard. It was difficult because it seemed to come in waves and then dissappear as fast as it hit. So many wonderful things happen at Dry Gulch. Rick and I received more hugs in those three days than most people receive in a life time. FCC kids are the BEST!!!! Words can only express so much....look at the pics and see for yourself.
